Zimbabwe designates tourism development zones to lure investors
ZIMBABWE’s
ministry of environment and tourism has designated certain areas/regions in the
country as Tourism Development Zones (TDZ) to lure investors.
The major objective is to promote tourism development and ultimately
economic development in areas with high potential in tourism but which are
underdeveloped.
- Beitbridge/Shashe/Limpopo
- Gonarezhou/Chiredzi
- Great Zimbabwe National Monument/Lake Mtirikwi
- Lake Chivero
- Matopo
- Kariba – Zambezi Valley
- Mutoko and Environs
- Eastern Highlands
- Midlands
The TDZ concept also serves to attract investment through
incentives such as no payment of lease, levy and licence fees for a five-year
period for developing chalets and seven years for developing lodges and free
use of raw material such as river sand, pit sand and stones in these areas. For further details regarding the TDZs e-mail: research [at] ztazim [dot] co [dot] zw
